Entry from: Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea Entry Title: “Most insane trip, ever!” Entry: “Up before am to shower, pack. Checked out, then the cab arrived at 5:30am, and we made the drive to the airport. We were on a Jet Star flight (Qantas codeshare) — and while Jet Star had a long line, it was almost exclusively for bag drop, so it moved fast. We had paper tickets, for some reason, so couldn’t use the self-check kiosks, but it didn’t take long to check in and get boarding passes. We were through security by 6:30am. Had breakie in the food court, suspecting, accurately, that Jet Star wouldn’t provide free food or drink. Small seats. Three hour flight. It was fine: we entertained ourselves by writing progressive stories. Landing at Cairns, we got our bags and walked to the International Terminal (took less than 10 minutes), then checked on to our Air Niuguini flight. Had snack/lunch (early) in the bistro before passing through customs to the departure lounge. No problems at all. Flight was slightly delayed — but not too badly. Overcast almost all of the way, but I did catch a glimpse of a large atoll. Landed, through I&C without incident. We were met by a guide and two drivers, who were all very friendly, then taken to our hotel, which is right near the airport. The hotel isn’t much — and is …
