Wildfires continue to spread across Portugal, threatening homes and stretching emergency services to the limit. At least 1500 people are battling nearly 30 major fires in the north, where strong winds are fanning the flames. Police have so far arrested 15 people on suspicion of arson. The country’s president has cancelled his vacation to visit the command centre tackling the situation.
