I had never been to Europe before. Here I was in Monte Carlo after spending 4 breath taking days in Paris with my daughter. We met a darling British couple,Susan and Stewart in the pool at our hotel,Fairmont Monte Carlo. The fun continued on for what seemed like forever. It was Susan’s birthday and we ended up back in our hotel lobby bar overlooking the Mediteranean at about 1:00am to listen to our hotel’s talented piano and guitar playing vocalist,Luciano,and have a nightcap. In the middle of his excellent rendition of The Temptations “My Girl” up walks..THE TEMPTATIONS!!! Who grabbed the mic and started singing along. They were in town for a concert,were staying at our hotel and had come to the lobby to relax and have a drink afterwards. It would have been just like Susan’s generous and creative husband to have pulled this off as a birthday surprise(we had heard some of the stories of how he surprises her–the trip there was one such delightful treat!!). He however was as surprised and excited as the rest of us..a magical coincidence gave us our own private concert on Susan’s birthday. You have got to love Luciano’s guitar playing on Purple Rain–he looks like a younger version of George Clooney(with an Italian accent to boot!)and plays like Jimmi Hendrix. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Temptations stole him away for their private band. Thanks to The Temptations and Luciano for a wonderful last night in Monte Carlo. We were off to London the next day with pockets full …
