Navigate Your Way To A Self Catering Vacation

The traditional use of a compass as a navigational tool is quickly shifting GPS navigation, or Global Positioning System. For anyone traveling to a new destination for vacation, a GPS unit might be a worthwhile investment to help you navigate through the unfamiliar territory. Or, if you are headed to an outdoor vacation such as hiking, a GPS unit could save you a lot of headaches if you become lost at some point.

However, it is still a good idea for hikers to learn how to use a compass as they are often far less expensive than a GPS device. Also, GPS units do not work in every area so you may very well find yourself in need of an old-fashioned compass at some point.

10 Steps To Prevent Jet Lag

Almost everyone who travels by air is affected by jet lag. Jet lag usually occurs when one crosses multiple time zones in a relatively short time. This disrupts your circadian rhythms, confusing your natural 24 hour “body clock”, which regulates your waking and sleeping hours. Symptoms of jet lag includes fatigue, insomnia, disorientation, headaches, giddiness, lost of appetite and digestive problems and many more. The condition seems acute if you fly from west to east because it is more difficult for your body to adjust to “losing time” when you journey east than to “gaining time” when you fly from east to west. The more time zones crossed during a flight, the higher the possibility and intensity of jet lag one will experience. Here are a few tips to help you avoid jet lag, and prevent it from ruining the first few days of your next vacation or business trip:

Majorca Holidays - Not Just About Making Merry

To most people, the mere mention of Majorca elicits those all too familiar images of Club 18-30 hotspots - Palma Nova and Magaluf - which have historically been popular with young holidaymakers looking to have a good time. However, Majorca has many resorts which cater towards a more tranquil, easy-going holiday.

Majorca is the largest of the Spanish islands and is part of the greater Balearic Islands archipelago. Situated in the Mediterranean Sea, Majorca has been synonymous with the package holiday industry since tourism on the island began in 1952 and is still popular with young holidaymakers and families alike today. But while the younger holidaymaker will undoubtedly seek the fast-paced hustle and bustle of Palma Nova, Alcudia or Magaluf, those holidaymakers looking for a more tranquil time are also well catered for on the island.
